Why?
I have learned the hard way that it is very, very easy to spend more than you have. That is why I have put this under the category of ESSENTIALS. With an Income & Expenditure Spreadsheet you can keep a track of what amounts are coming in and when, and possibly more importantly, what amounts are leaving your account and when.I know that we are not all necessarily technically inclined, so although the idea of a "Income & Expenditure Spreadsheet" may seem a bit daunting, worry not because I am going to walk you through it.
How?
First of all, download a FREE spreadsheet program. Microsoft Office and others cost a small fortune to purchase, but there are plenty of alternatives available that can do almost as much - if not more than - the paid software options. I use Open Office.Secondly, you need not even do it yourself! The Job Center are usually very happy to help you with such things, especially if you are a registered disabled or have learning difficulties. Contact your local Job Center or speak to your adviser for details.
If you are doing it yourself, good for you! There are plenty of guides online on how to do it, and also pre-made Templates that all you need do is edit with your details.

You will be so, so much better off once you have this done. Just remember to keep updating it! Good luck!
